A Blessings Blog Hop Today And Tomorrow

I have been truly blessed in so many faucets of my life. And one of those blessings have been my ability to write reviews on my blog. I love the fact that I can put my opinions down in writing and that people from all over the world can read what I think of a product, book, movie, food and well, just about anything that I have a view point on. FREEDOM OF SPEECH!! That in itself is a huge blessing that I think we take for granted.

If you are a new visitor, please sit back, take a load off, grab a cup o' joe and read my views on some of the products I have reviewed tto date. I would love to hear what you think of my reviews and would love to have you subscribe.

I would also like to thank Angela over at CSAHM & Home-Schoolers Fellowship and MusingMom6  for the opportunity to join in on this Blog Hop.

The Sacred Meal (The Ancient Practices Series) by Nora Gallagher

TheSacredMealcover2
Book Description

The sacred meal that is part of our faith does more than connect us to the holy. It connects us to each other.

"I think Jesus wanted his disciples and everyone who came after him to remember what they had together. What they made together. What it meant to be together. How the things he wanted them to do could not be done alone. How the things he did could not have been done without them."

In her inimitable style of memoir and personal reflection, Nora Gallagher explores the beauty and mystery of this most fascinating of topics. Whether exploring the history of Christian Communion, taking us inside the workings of a soup kitchen or sharing times of joy and sadness with friends, the author reminds us what it means to partake of and be part of the body of Christ.

Includes foreword by Phyllis Tickle, general editor of The Ancient Practices Series.

My Review

I love reading anything that has to do with history so I was really looking forward to reading The Sacred Meal however, although it is well written, it is entirely about communion and since I am not Catholic, it was very hard for me to get through it. She writes of the different experiences she has had in communion and she also offered some advice to her readers however I can not agree or disagree in respect to communion but I will say this… I was not bored in her writing style.

When I agreed to write this review for Book Sneeze, I thought that this was more on the line of Jesus and the last supper.

If you would like to pick up a copy of the book, you can find it on Amazon.com.

The Radical Question Giveaway

WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group giving away copies of The Radical Question. It's a concise companion booklet...tiny, but the message packs a big punch!

I will tell you how you can get it free in a moment, but first I would like to give you my review of the first chapter of RADICAL Taking Back Your Faith From The American Dream.

RadicalSpill

WOW!!! My head is spinning. However, I knew that there must be more in depth meaning in what Jesus is trying to tell us. I am so looking forward to and excited to read more of David’s book. David shares in depth exactly what “we” as a whole in Christianity have failed to comprehend in the scriptures. We have failed to live as Christ has taught! We missed the point in His teachings, but David so eloquently and tenderly makes the points clear.  He is so right on in what he says about Christianity in America. I have already pre ordered The book RADICAL Taking Back Your Faith From The American Dream.

Now, here is how you can get your FREE copy of The Radical Question.

1) Read the first chapter of Radical here.

2) Post your thoughts on the first chapter in your blog and on a site like Amazon.com, BarnesAndNoble.com, ChristianBook.com, etc.

3) Let your readers know they can request a free copy of The Radical Question by going to www.WaterBrookMultnomah.com/RadicalQuestion.

Be sure to checkout www.radicalthebook.com

I hope you are encouraged and enjoy the first chapter of Radical as much as I have.

Book Tour Review of The Twilight Gospel: The Spiritual Roots of Stephenie Meyer's Vampire Saga by Dave Roberts

TheTwilightGospel

When I received my copy of The Twilight Gospel to write a review for the Litfuse Group I scanned through it thinking that although it is only 155 pages long, that it was going to be a slow read. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised when I actually began reading it.

About book:
The blockbuster Twilight Saga is being read by teenager and adult alike. These powerful novels are getting even more popular as the movies hit the theaters. Crisply written and with a gracious spirit, The Twilight Gospel will help teens, their parents, and their pastors discern what is good from what is unhealthy in the novels and equip them to be biblically literate readers.

From the back cover:
With these powerful novels getting even more popular as the movies hit the cinemas, the call for a Christian response is strong. What values and ideas do Meyer's novels promote? What is good about them, and what deserves closer inspection?
The spirituality and worldview of the Twilight Saga are fascinating, but they do not sit easily with orthodox Christianity. This book carefully and graciously assesses what is praiseworthy and what is less so. It helps the reader to think more clearly about issues to do with occult spirits, life after death, myths and legends, sexuality, personal spiritual power, the culture of glamour and the lure of materialism. All these subjects are woven into the fabric of the Twilight Saga.
The central point of the book is to help teens (and their parents) discern what is excellent from what is unhealthy, helping to create robust, shrewd, and literate young adults.

My Review:
The Twilight Gospel by Dave Roberts is quit an insightful read and I highly recommend that parents read his book and use it as a basis of discussing the Twilight Saga Series (Sneek Peek pages). Robert’s discusses many if not all of the subject matter presented in The Twilight Saga series. It was a fast and enlightening read as Dave Robert's wrote about friendships, self-image, beauty, forgiveness, love, awkwardness, fear, the dead, cults, money, sex, sacrifice, violence, power and the unborn. He compared fact from myth and showed us through scripture, what is right and what is wrong, what is good and what is bad.

Read other reviews from the participant for The Twilight Gospel over at Litfuse Publicity.

Endorsements:
'Millions of young minds are being shaped by the Twilight Saga. Dave Roberts offers valuable cultural and biblical insights -  neither reactionary nor reticent - for anyone seeking to separate the good, the bad and the ugly in these powerful books.'
-Pete Greig, author of Red Moon Rising, God on Mute and Punk Monk.

About the Author:
Dave Roberts is the author of the best-selling The Toronto Blessing and Red Moon Rising with joint sales in excess of 100,000. He is a former editor of Christianity and won awards for his work on Renewal magazine. He is a local church pastor and conference director for three major annual conferences on worship, children's ministry, and women's ministry.
